Skin Rejuvenation Therapy

Today there are several different types of skin rejuvenation therapy available for people to use to improve the condition of their skin. These types of treatments can not only help to reduce the signs of aging but also to treat other skin conditions as well.

Below we take a look at two such therapies which are gaining quite a bit of attention and which seem to be effective in helping to treat the damaging effects of aging on our skin. They not only help to treat the damage to the skin caused as we grow older, but also the damage which has been caused by the environment around us.

The two types of skin rejuvenation therapies we are going to be looking at are known as PhotoFacial and Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy. Both of which are designed to help rejuvenate a person’s skin.

PhotoFacial works by converting intense pulses of light in to heat, which are able to then eradicate conditions such as reddened, flushed skin, rosacea, visible facial veins, sun damaged skins and hyper- or hypo- skin pigmentation that appear under the skin’s surface. This therapy is often used after a person has undergone some other form of treatment for skin problems, including face lifts, chemical peels or vibradermabrasion.

The main benefit to be gained from using this particular form of skin rejuvenation treatment is that it helps to increase the growth of collage beneath the skin’s surface. Which results in the skin looking more moist and giving it a plump feeling. It also helps in smoothing out the various skin tones and giving it a much richer velvety texture.

As for Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy, this also uses intense pulsed light along with a photosensitizing agent. But whereas the PhotoFacial treatment is a one step procedure, this is a two part one. But it can help to make major improvements to the skin which has either been damaged by the sun or if the person suffers from cystic acne. Also can help to improve the condition of the skin when it is in the pre-cancerous stages.

Both types of skin rejuvenation treatment can improve the appearance of wrinkles, the size of the skin’s pores, its texture and pigmentation. Skin problems such as Rosacea and Sebaceous Hyperplasia are greatly improved using this type of treatment.

The actual skin rejuvenation therapy is convenient and some results are almost immediate, as treatment only takes a short period to complete at the doctor’s office. Normally each session lasts for 15 minutes and a person will be required to undergo several sessions spaced about two to three weeks or so apart and depending on the severity of the skin condition, will be carried out over five or more sessions. You must consult with a qualified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for either type of skin rejuvenation treatment.

Neither of the skin rejuvenation therapy treatments are invasive and are generally considered safe with minimal recovery time. Although it can be quite expensive, skin rejuvenation therapy offers greater advantages over surgical procedures which are more costly and require longer recovery periods. The results that this type of skin rejuvenation therapy offer may be the answer to what most people are looking for, namely younger and healthier looking skin.
